Pretty Red Velvet Cupcakes

My boyfriend loves red velvet cupcakes. So, I decided to make some for his 24th Birthday as a surprise!   It took me a while to look for that perfect red velvet recipe that suits me. My criteria was that it should be (1) Easy, (2) Inexpensive and (3) having locally available ingredients. There are a lot of recipes online and there are deceitful recipes that are labeled 'easy' but are relatively not. The recipe I used to make my delightful red velvety treats was from My Food Notebook.     A blog that also features other fun and easy recipes. I followed the recipe for the cake batter to the detail. RED VELVET: CAKE BATTER RECIPE  3 cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder ¾ tsp salt 3 large eggs, at room temperature ¾ cup butter, at room temperature 2¼ cups granulated sugar 1½ tsp vanilla extract 1 ounce bottle of red food coloring (2 Tbsp.) 1½ cups buttermilk* 1½ tsp baking soda 1½ tsp vinegar For the procedure, sim

When I'm Gone (Cups) by Anna Kendrick

So, I got in a little late with the Pitch Perfect fever because I was in semi-cyber-hibernation mode for the entire six months of reviewing for the Architecture board exam. I really enjoyed the movie and I  was really fascinated with the 'cups' singing feat performed by Beca (Anna Kendrick) in the movie. Finally, found the time try to learn it. Here is my version of When I'm Gone (Cups) by Anna Kendrick I'm not really sure if my hand movements are exactly the same with how Anna Kendrick did it in the movie but here is a short guide for those who might want to give it a try as well. *Clap *Clap *Tap *Tap *Tap [on the inverted cup] *Clap *Move *Cup [to the right] *Clap [Pick up inverted cup with left hand, and] *Tap [the right-side-up rim of the cup on right palm] *Tap [the bottom of the cup on the table or floor] [Pick up the cup with the right hand and invert it upside down as you] *Tap [your left palm on the table or floor]

Good Friday 2013

Woot-woo! I'm creating a new blog post again. I am definitely on a roll! I just got back from  Shrine of the Holy Infant of Jesus of Prague located at  Shrine Hills, Matina, Davao City. This has been a family tradition observed by many of the catholic church-goers here in Davao City. The entire Shrine Hills road is closed off during the Holy Week to accommodate thousands of pilgrims. The devotees relive the way of the cross in reflective prayer trekking up from the  foot of Shrine Hills and offer prayers or candles for each station. I look forward to this every year because it is also 'family time'. Way way back, when my Lola Lita was still alive we would wake up very early to avoid the scorching heat of the sun during this pilgrimage walk. But this year, we came a little later than the usual 5:00-6:00 am-ish call time. We arrived at the foot of Shrine hills at around 6:58 am. So, avoiding the blazing hot summer sun was inevitable.
